Welcome to the Tyler Chateauneuf Scholarship Fund

Established in 2023, this scholarship aims to honor the memory of Tyler Chateauneuf. Tyler was 14 when he unexpectedly passed away from a Cardiac Dysrhythmia. Tyler was a smart, energetic, quick witted kid, who loved swimming, Minecraft, Legos, squids, Roblox and dreamt of one day becoming an engineer.

Tyler never felt more at home than when he was at the pool, he cared deeply for his team mates both from his Park & Rec team the Chicopee Amberjacks, and his High School team, the Chicopee Comp Colts.

In order to keep Tyler’s memory alive, a scholarship will be awarded annually in his name to a student of Chicopee Comp High school, who loves swimming and their teammates as much as Tyler did. This scholarship can be used for any future educational programs, certifications, trade education, or towards college.

How to apply for the scholarship:

You can apply for the Tyler Chateauneuf Scholarship by filling out the Senior Scholarship Application for Higher Educational Grant for the Chicopee Comprehensive High School Scholarship Council. The counsel will check all applicants to see if they are a member of the Boys or Girls Swim & Dive Team for Chicopee Comp and then determine if they meet the requirements put forth by the family.

Requirements as written by the family of Tyler:

This scholarship should be awarded to a senior member of the Chicopee Comp Swim and Dive Team (either boys or girls) who demonstrates sportsmanship and inclusion of all teammates regardless of the length of time those individuals(teammates) have been a part of the team or their swimming abilities.  Additional community service such as volunteer work or fundraising for humanitarian/community causes would be ideal. (Example: Tyler used to volunteer for the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive each year to raise money for things like a wheelchair for a child who couldn't afford one.  He also would help with sorting the food received during the annual US Post Office Can drive for the homeless shelters in the Amherst Area.)

The individual can be looking to either go to college or complete a certification program or apprenticeship, must be doing well in their academic studies (3.0 GPA or higher), We would prefer them to be excelling in Mathematics and Science or one of those and the CTE program of their selection. Their disciplinary record must be clean.

They can be but do not have to be part of the CTE program and planning to pursue further education or programs in their field instead of going to college after graduation.

In the case of several qualifying candidates, we would like any swimmer that meets these criteria and swims or has at any point swam for the Chicopee Amberjacks swim team to be given additional consideration.  We reserve the right to give more than one scholarship each year should we choose to.

We feel these criteria demonstrate both what Tyler excelled at and what he loved most about school and his swim teams.
